Fivetran, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Metadata team, owning the discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history services.

You will drive architecture, mentor engineers, and raise the bar on quality across the team in a remote role with occasional visits to the Denver-area office. The role emphasizes designing major subsystems, coordinating across engineers, and applying AI tooling to SDLC artifacts while delivering reliable, scalable data infrastructure for thousands

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience leading complex, team-scale work.
• Expert in distributed, cloud-based subsystems design.
• Proven ability to set technical direction for a team.
• Strong design and architecture judgment with trade-offs.
• Proficient in Python, Java, C++, or C#.
• Experience with AI tooling and SDLC artifacts.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of complex, team-level metadata projects.
• Architect new subsystems end-to-end across teams.
• Apply AI tooling across SDLC artifacts.
• Review designs to maintain high quality and spot issues.
• Drive initiatives in discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history.
• Uphold design and coding best practices.
• Mentor engineers to improve code quality.
• Write specs and document components.
• Fix critical code and improve reliability and performance.
• Participate in on-call rotations.
