Job summary

Fivetran is seeking an engineering manager to lead the Metadata team, owning the discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history services. You will guide delivery, ensure reliability, and partner with product to ship new capabilities for the dbt platform.

You’ll coach engineers, review designs, and drive high standards of quality and performance across a remote, fully distributed team. This is a fully remote, full-time role with strong growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and growing a software engineering team.
• Ability to review designs and code and make architectural trade-offs in distributed, cloud-based systems.
• Track record delivering complex projects on schedule with high quality and reliability.
• Ownership of production services, incident response, on-call practices, and SLAs.
• Ability to plan with product partners, maintain a realistic backlog, and drive completion rates.
• Clear communication across teams and stakeholders; proactive updates on progress and risks.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate development and SDLC artifacts.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a software engineering team, including hiring, onboarding, and career development.
• Own project delivery for your team against the quarterly plan and maintain service reliability and latency targets.
• Review technical designs and code and provide feedback grounded in product architecture.
• Drive technical quality, incidents, tech debt, and post-mortems within SLA targets.
• Partner with product and business stakeholders to plan and prioritize the backlog.
• Communicate engineering vision and progress to the team and adjacent teams.
• Ensure FDLC processes are implemented and followed.
• Delegate effectively to build autonomy and a high-trust culture.
• Address performance issues promptly and fairly.
• Encourage use of AI tooling to accelerate development and SDLC artifacts.
