Job summary

Fivetran in Denver is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Metadata team, owning the discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history services. You will design, build, and optimize high-throughput backend features across APIs and data models.

You’ll collaborate with product, QE, and support to deliver scalable, well-tested software; leverage AI tools to accelerate development and ensure security and reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software industry experience.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud computing concepts.
• Ability to write well-structured, performant, and well-tested code.
• Ability to independently lead feature-level software and design work.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI tools and observability (Datadog, Grafana) is a plus.
• Fluency with AI code assistants and coding agents to accelerate development.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features and performance improvements across the Metadata team's services — discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history.
• Develop, maintain, and test high-quality, maintainable code; optimize critical paths for performance.
• Write technical designs for feature work; solicit feedback and explain trade-offs clearly.
• Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback to the team.
• Improve test coverage with unit tests and refactor code to reduce tech debt.
• Troubleshoot and debug production issues; participate in post-mortems and mitigation plans.
• Break features into tasks; plan and execute on your projects; contribute to sprint planning.
• Collaborate with product managers, QE, and support to deliver high-quality, scalable software.
• Participate in on-call rotation and uphold security best practices.
