Job summary

Marqeta is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help scale the Customer Migration Platform. You will build backend services and data pipelines from scratch, with hands-on work in Java and Python, and deploy cloud-native solutions on AWS.

You will collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable APIs, data integration, and high-availability systems while mentoring junior engineers and driving engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and data pipelines.
• Implement scalable APIs and microservices for front-end apps.
• Collaborate with data scientists to ensure data quality and availability.
• Mentor junior engineers and improve engineering efficiency.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response.
• Create and maintain documentation for code, architecture, and data processes.
