Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking an experienced attorney for a primarily remote role based in Washington with occasional appearances for required court proceedings. The attorney will handle moderately complex civil litigation involving claims for monetary damages or property loss, focusing on insurance defense and policyholder rights.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the bar in Washington and in good standing; special licenses may be required.
• Minimum of 5 years of successful trial attorney experience, preferably in insurance law.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage all phases of moderate to heavy value litigation up to ~$50,000 exposure.
• Lead settlement negotiations and participate in hearings, trials, and mediations.
• Develop and execute advanced legal strategies for discovery, investigation, and trial preparation.
• Utilize e-discovery tools and case management systems to streamline workflows and reduce costs.
• Provide clear, well-reasoned legal opinions and strategic advice to clients and Claims Representatives.
• Mentor junior attorneys and staff; lead training sessions within Legal and related departments.
• Ensure all documents comply with MRPC and regulatory requirements.
