Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking an Associate Attorney for a role that is primarily remote in New York with required appearances. You will join a diverse legal team and handle moderately complex civil litigation matters involving monetary damages or personal injury claims.

The position offers performance bonuses, 20 days of flexible time off, personal holidays, and a 401(k) plan with matching contributions. You’ll work under moderate supervision from inception to resolution.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York bar in good standing; other licenses may be required for specific boards or federal courts.
• General knowledge of insurance and workers’ compensation law as needed.
• Proficient in e-discovery and case management systems; strong legal analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Litigation execution: manage all phases of litigation from discovery through trial.
• Provide clear legal opinions and strategic advice to Claims Representatives and insured clients.
• Utilize e-discovery and case management technologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks; collaborate with clients and senior counsel on resolutions.
• Ensure all pleadings and motions are accurate and compliant with standards.
• Deliver timely updates to insured clients and claims professionals to align with case objectives.
• Contribute to organizational improvements within Staff Legal and Global Legal & Compliance teams.
• Uphold high ethical standards and compliance with licensing requirements.
