Job summary

Liberty Mutual's legal team in the United States seeks an experienced Attorney to independently manage moderately complex civil litigation matters involving claims for monetary damages or personal injuries.

This role is primarily remote in California with required appearances; you will lead strategic litigation efforts, mentor junior attorneys, and collaborate with Claims Representatives to deliver strong outcomes while adhering to MRPC and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• JD or LLB from an accredited law school.
• California bar admission in good standing.
• 5+ years of successful trial attorney experience, preferably in insurance law.
• Experience managing moderately complex litigation with favorable outcomes.
• Knowledge of insurance law and workers’ compensation when needed.
• Strong research, writing, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Proficient with e-discovery tools and case management software.
• Ability to mentor junior attorneys and staff.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Commitment to ethical practice and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Litigation management and execution for moderate to heavy value claims.
• Litigation support through trial from prep to resolution.
• Develop advanced legal strategies for discovery and trial prep.
• Utilize e-discovery tools and data analysis to streamline workflows.
• Provide strategic client advisory and relationship management.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks with clients.
• Design training and mentor junior attorneys and staff.
• Ensure documents comply with MRPC and regulations.
