Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking an Associate Attorney to represent the company and its policyholders in routine civil litigation and workers' compensation matters with moderately complex issues. You will manage cases under moderate supervision, applying legal knowledge and client-relations skills in a collaborative environment.

The role offers a flexible work arrangement with remote work largely in the state of ABC, plus required appearances.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to the bar in the required state and in good standing; other board or federal licenses may be required.
• General knowledge of insurance law; workers’ compensation and/or No Fault law as needed.
• Proficient in e-discovery, case management systems, and basic legal analysis tools.
• Strong analytical, research, and legal writing skills.
• Basic negotiation techniques: preparation, active listening, problem-solving.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cases from start to finish under supervision.
• Effective written and oral communication; ability to collaborate with clients and senior attorneys.

Responsibilities

• Litigation Execution: Manage all phases of litigation through discovery, hearings, trials, mediations, and drafting pleadings and motions.
• Client Advisory and Relationship Management: Provide clear legal opinions and strategic advice to Claims Representatives and insured clients.
• Technology Utilization: Use e-discovery and case management technologies to streamline processes and coordinate with remote teams.
• Risk Evaluation and Case Resolution Facilitation: Identify and collaboratively resolve legal risks with clients and senior counsel.
• Documentation Accuracy and Compliance: Ensure all legal documents meet standards and client expectations.
• Timely Client Communication: Provide updates and recommendations to insured clients and claims professionals.
• Contribution to Organizational Improvement: Participate in initiatives to improve efficiency and practices within Staff Legal and Global Legal & Compliance.
• Ethical Compliance Adherence: Maintain high standards of ethics and licensing requirements.
