Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking an Associate Attorney to handle routine civil litigation and workers' compensation matters with moderate complexity. You will manage cases from inception through resolution under moderate supervision, applying legal knowledge, research skills, and client communication to support policyholders and the company.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Claims Representatives and insured clients, with a focus on ethical compliance and efficiency in remote work

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in the required state and in good standing; special licenses may be required.
• General knowledge of insurance law, and workers’ compensation and/or No Fault law.
• Proficient in e-discovery, case management systems, and basic legal analysis tools.
• Strong analytical, research, and legal writing skills.
• Basic knowledge of negotiation techniques including preparation and active listening.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cases from start to finish under supervision.
• Effective communication and persuasion skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to collaborate with clients, claims professionals, and senior attorneys.
• Organized, process-oriented with strong time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Litigation Execution: Manage all phases of litigation, including discovery, hearings, trials, mediations, and drafting pleadings and motions.
• Client Advisory and Relationship Management: Provide clear legal opinions and strategic advice to Claims Representatives and insured clients.
• Technology Utilization: Use e-discovery and case management tech to streamline processes and coordinate with remote teams.
• Risk Evaluation and Case Resolution Facilitation: Identify and mitigate legal risks with clients and senior counsel.
• Documentation Accuracy and Compliance: Ensure all legal documents are accurate and compliant.
• Timely Client Communication: Provide updates and recommendations to insured clients and claims professionals.
• Contribution to Organizational Improvement: Participate in initiatives to improve efficiency and best practices.
• Ethical Compliance Adherence: Uphold high standards of ethics and licensing requirements.
