Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance in California seeks an experienced Attorney to independently manage moderately complex civil litigation matters. You will handle claims for monetary damages or personal injuries, draft pleadings, and lead settlement negotiations with an emphasis on effective case strategy.

You will mentor junior attorneys, collaborate across Legal and Claims, and ensure compliance with MRPC and ethics.

Qualifications

• JD or LLB from an accredited law school and CA bar in good standing.
• Minimum of 5 years of successful trial attorney experience.
• Experience in insurance law and related litigation.
• Strong research, writing, negotiation, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage all phases of litigation for moderate to heavy value claims.
• Lead settlement negotiations and participate in hearings, trials, and mediations.
• Support and mentor junior attorneys and legal staff.
• Develop advanced legal strategies and ensure MRPC compliance.
• Utilize e-discovery tools and case management systems to optimize workflows.
• Advise clients and Claims Representatives with clear, strategic opinions.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks in collaboration with senior attorneys.
• Drive training and process improvements across Legal and Claims teams.
