Job summary

Liberty Mutual is seeking an experienced Attorney to independently manage moderately complex civil litigation matters related to insurance claims. You will develop strategies, lead negotiations, and mentor junior attorneys while maintaining high ethical standards.

The role emphasizes strategic case management, use of e-discovery tools, and strong client relationship skills, with remote work options and required in-person appearances as needed.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Missouri bar in good standing; other boards/federal courts may require licenses.
• Minimum of 5 years of successful trial attorney experience, preferably in insurance law and related litigation.
• Proven experience managing moderately complex litigation with favorable outcomes.
• General knowledge of insurance law, and workers’ compensation and/or No Fault law as needed.
• Exceptional legal research, writing, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with advanced e-discovery tools, case management software, and remote collaboration technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead junior attorneys and staff.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills.
• Commitment to ethical practice and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage all phases of litigation involving moderate to heavy value claims.
• Develop, implement, and refine advanced legal strategies for discovery, investigations, and trial prep.
• Lead settlement negotiations and participate in hearings, trials, and mediations.
• Provide clear legal opinions and strategic advice to clients and Claims Reps.
• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate legal risks with clients and senior attorneys.
• Design and conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims, and related departments; mentor junior staff.
• Ensure documents are prepared and compliant with MRPC and regulatory standards.
• Identify opportunities for process automation and workflow improvements.
