Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking an Associate Attorney in California who will represent the company and policyholders in moderately complex civil litigation. The role emphasizes collaboration, ethics, and client service, with remote work in California and required appearances as needed.

Under moderate supervision, you will manage cases end-to-end, leveraging e‑discovery, case management tools, and strong legal research and writing skills to support claims professionals and insured clients.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in California in good standing; specialty licenses may be required.
• General knowledge of insurance law and workers’ compensation as needed.
• Proficiency with e-discovery, case management systems, and basic legal analysis tools.
• Strong analytical, research, and legal writing skills.
• Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to manage cases from start to finish under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of litigation, from discovery through trial and motions.
• Provide strategic legal opinions and advisory support to Claims Representatives and insured clients.
• Utilize e-discovery and case management technologies to improve efficiency and collaboration.
• Identify risks and work with senior counsel to facilitate resolutions.
• Ensure accurate and compliant drafting of pleadings, motions, and documents.
• Maintain timely, clear communications with clients and claims professionals.
