Koala Health, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations and bring key close activities in-house as the company scales.

This full-time, remote position reports to the Controller and collaborates with FP&A and external partners during the transition. The ideal candidate will manage month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, payroll and inventory accounting, and collaborate across finance and operations to improve workflows using automation and AI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of accounting experience, with meaningful month-end close exposure.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
• Hands‑on experience with journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, AP, and month‑end close.
• Attention to detail with analytical mindset and ability to resolve discrepancies.
• Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets; experience with QuickBooks or similar.

Responsabilités

• Support day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, vendor payments, Ramp, employee expense reimbursements, and corporate credit card reconciliations.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries, accruals, and other recurring accounting entries as part of the financial close.
• Prepare cash and bank tie‑outs and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, including inventory, accounts payable, fixed assets, rebates, and other key accounts; investigate discrepancies.
• Own assigned month-end close activities and support the broader closing process under the Controller's direction, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Partner with Controller and external accountants to transition financial close activities in-house and classify transactions per U.S. GAAP.
• Maintain close documentation and schedules to support accurate reporting and audit readiness.
• Prepare payroll reconciliations and related journal entries; resolve discrepancies with HR & payroll teams.
• Support sales tax reconciliations and filings in partnership with external advisors; assist with Form 720/PCORI where applicable.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve accounting processes and controls.
