Job summary

Arbor Research Collaborative for Health is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the general ledger, month-end close, and accounts payable in a government contracting environment. You will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and contribute to revenue recognition and billing across contract types.

The role collaborates with the Accounting Manager, program managers, and other departments to maintain strong financial controls and timely reporting, including DCAA/DCMA interactions and FAR

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• 3+ years of general ledger or staff accounting experience, including government contractor experience.
• 2+ years with government contractor or federally funded organization.
• Working knowledge of FAR Part 31, DCAA audit requirements, and indirect rate structures.
• Strong GAAP understanding and account reconciliation practices.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data reconciliation).
• Familiarity with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and Single Audit requirements for federal grants.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations (cash, AR, unbilled receivables, AP, accruals, fixed assets).
• Prepare schedules and analyses for budget-to-actual and overhead/G&A variance reporting.
• Maintain chart of accounts and organizational structure with Accounting Manager.
• Support labor cost distribution and timekeeping reconciliation.
• Assist with project setup, revenue recognition under ASC 606, and contract billing.
• Prepare documentation for DCAA/DCMA/audits and Uniform Guidance requests.
• Review and code vendor/subcontractor invoices in Unanet; ensure correct charging to projects.
• Review employee expense reports for compliance with policy and FAR/GL guidelines.
• Process weekly payment runs and maintain vendor master data (W‑9, SAM).
• Reconcile AP subledger to GL; monitor AP aging and accruals at period end.
