Job summary

Arbor Research Collaborative for Health is seeking a Staff Accountant to support general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and accounts payable in a government contracting environment. You will prepare journal entries, perform reconciliations, and assist with ASC 606 revenue recognition and billing across contracts.

The role collaborates with the Accounting Manager and program teams while enabling internal and external audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Three (3) or more years of general ledger or staff accounting experience, including at least two (2) years with a government contractor or federally funded organization.
• Hands-on experience with Unanet, including GL processing and month-end utilities.
• Working experience with Unanet (timekeeping, expense, project, or financial modules).
• Working knowledge of FAR Part 31, DCAA audit requirements, and indirect rate structures.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and account reconciliation practices.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data reconciliation.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to meet close deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries per GAAP, including accruals and depreciation.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for cash, AR, AP, and fixed assets.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare schedules and analyses, including budget-to-actual and variance reports.
• Maintain chart of accounts and organizational structure with Accounting Manager.
• Support labor cost distribution and timekeeping reconciliation with payroll.
• Assist with project setup, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and contract billing.
• Prepare responses for internal/external audits (DCAA, DCMA, Quick assessments).
• Develop standard and ad-hoc reports for management and compliance.
• Review vendor invoices, perform three-way matching, and resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile AP subledger to GL, maintain aging, and record accruals at period end.
• Prepare annual Form 1099 filings and respond to vendor inquiries.
