Job summary

MaineHealth is seeking a Staff Accountant to support our Mountain Region in a remote role. You will manage general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, post cash deposits, and assist with month-end closings while working independently within a small, collaborative team.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, 1 year of accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and excellent communication and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of one year of experience preferred in the case of an Accounting or Finance degree. If degree is not in accounting or finance, 1 year of accounting experience is required.
• Strong oral, written and organizational skills.
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (preferred).
• Ability to work across departments and with varying levels of management. Maintain confidentiality.
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries.
• Post cash deposits and assist with month‑end closing activities.
• Analyze financial data and prepare reports and analyses.
• Research discrepancies and ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
