State of Maine is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant in Augusta to handle accounting, cash management, and grant-related reporting. The role emphasizes accuracy, initiative, and independent work within a fast-paced environment.

Full-time position with potential partial telework with management approval. Responsibilities include reconciliation, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies, supporting the DHHS mission and state programs.

Qualifications

• Education, training, and/or experience in accounting or related field.
• Knowledge of GAAP/GASB and accounting reconciliations.
• Ability to review financial controls across multiple lines.
• Strong analytical data review and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting, cash management, revenue/expenditure monitoring, reporting, and analysis for grant management.
• Reconcile complex accounts and prepare financial information, and implement system/process changes.
• Prepare financial information to properly account for and close accounts.
• Interpret and apply accounting theory and ensure compliance with laws and policies.
• Collaborate with teams to support work goals and mission.
