Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Manager Site Reliability Engineering to lead and grow a team responsible for Linux platform infrastructure powering our Compute services. You will shape direction, drive projects end-to-end, and collaborate across hardware, product, and operations to deliver scalable, reliable systems.

The role emphasizes improving observability, security, and maintainability at scale, with on-call readiness and incident response leadership as core responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in engineering leadership (SRE/related)
• Proven ability to mentor high-performing teams
• Extensive experience with Linux internals, OS, and sysadmin
• Strong knowledge of computer architecture and server hardware
• Track record of improving reliability, performance, security, and maintainability of production systems at scale
• Excellent cross-team communication and collaboration

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of technical leads and Linux platform engineers.
• Set technical direction and priorities for the team, balancing platform evolution, reliability, security, and operational needs.
• Drive engineering projects from requirements and design through implementation, validation, and deployment.
• Partner with hardware, product, operations, and engineering teams to deliver reliable and scalable Compute platforms.
• Improve platform observability, automation, and operational practices to reduce disruptions.
• Lead investigations and resolution of complex, service-impacting issues and support incident response and on-call operations.
