Job summary

GoDaddy is seeking a senior SRE to operate and scale a global OpenStack-based hosting platform. You’ll automate toil away, improve observability, and participate in on-call incident response across a large, distributed production environment.

You will mentor junior engineers, review code, and contribute to AI-driven tooling to accelerate problem resolution. This is a remote role with occasional office visits as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in SRE, infrastructure, platform, or systems engineering at scale.
• Strong Linux fundamentals: networking, storage, processes, troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Python for automation and tooling.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems and cross-service problem solving.
• Infrastructure-as-code and configuration management: Puppet, Ansible, or equivalent.
• Ownership of production reliability: on-call, incident response, toil reduction.
• Clear written and verbal communication for documentation and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Operate and scale GoDaddy's cloud infrastructure, including OpenStack-based hosting.
• Troubleshoot and improve services across compute, networking, and storage in production.
• Drive OpenStack migration with migration tooling, validation, and rollback strategies.
• Eliminate toil by building automation in Python and Puppet.
• Strengthen observability with improved monitoring, alerts, and dashboards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response with blameless post-mortems.
• Mentor SRE I/II engineers and review peers' code and runbooks.
• Contribute to AI/MCP initiatives to speed up problem resolution.
