Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a skilled Medical Coder to review, analyze, and code medical records with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS for complex procedural and surgery cases. You’ll abstract demographics into our system and ensure medical necessity is supported, while auditing orders and claims for accuracy.

The role requires a GED or high school diploma, and an AAPC‑accredited coding certificate is preferred. Collaboration with physicians and staff is key to success.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• AAPC-accredited Coding Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, analyzes, and codes medical record documentation for ICD-10, CPT, Modifiers and HCPCS to greatest specificity.
• Abstracts demographic and coding information into the information system accurately.
• Reviews documentation for medical necessity and audits orders and claims for accuracy to minimize denials.
• Provides technical guidance to physicians and staff in identifying and resolving issues or errors.
• Primary coding responsibility is complex procedural and surgery coding.
