Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a Medical Coder to review, analyze, and code medical records for complex procedural and surgery coding across Interventional Radiology, Cardiology, EP and Cardiothoracic subspecialties, ensuring the greatest specificity for ICD-10, CPT, modifiers and HCPCS.

The role abstracts demographics into the information system, audits orders and claims, assesses records for medical necessity, and provides guidance to physicians and staff.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required; coding certificate preferred.
• AAPC-accredited coding certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, analyzes, and codes medical record documentation to the greatest specificity for ICD-10, CPT, Modifiers and HCPCS.
• Abstracts demographic and coding information into the information system accurately.
• Reviews documentation for medical necessity and audits orders and claims before submission.
• Provides technical guidance to physicians and other staff in identifying and resolving issues.
• Develops effective working relationships with physicians and stakeholders.
• Primary coding responsibility is complex procedural and surgery coding.
