Job summary

Lanteris Space LLC is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design and implement software for spacecraft simulators. Roles can be based in San Jose, CA, or a US remote location, with responsibility for models, hardware specs translation, and CI/CD deployment.

The candidate will work on existing simulation codebases, write tests, participate in design reviews, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with software and systems teams to ensure robust system design.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines; four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
• 2 years of professional software development experience, preferably in simulation of spacecraft or other complex systems.
• Proficiency with Linux and with software compilers/tools; experience with CI/CD and automated testing frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement models of spacecraft components and subsystems for all-software spacecraft simulators.
• Read and interpret spacecraft hardware specifications, ICDs, and technical documentation to develop accurate software models.
• Work with and enhance existing simulation codebases while maintaining system functionality and architecture.
• Deploy code through CI/CD pipelines and develop automated tests.
• Collaborate with team members to solve design problems and evaluate technical trade-offs.
• Communicate with software and systems engineers to ensure coherent system design.
• Write and perform unit, integration, and system-level tests on software applications.
• Participate in customer-facing design reviews and other technical discussions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
