Job summary

Level Data is seeking a Software Engineer 2 to join our remote engineering team. You will build features for state education platforms, working across C#/.NET, SQL Server, React, and TypeScript.

You’ll contribute across the full codebase, participate in Scrum, and collaborate with Product Owner to translate customer problems into reliable software while maintaining CI/CD and testing practices. Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of experience, strong CS fundamentals, and a willingness to own

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with C# and .NET, or equivalent backend development experience such as Java.
• Strong CS fundamentals and data structures.
• SQL Server or PostgreSQL with complex queries and schema design.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern front-end framework.
• Experience with Agile, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Willingness to work with multiple tools and languages as needed.
• Familiarity with cloud providers (Azure preferred).
• Interest in mentoring and collaborating with Product Owner.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a main driver of story output for the team, delivering features that state agencies depend on.
• Build and ship across a C#/.NET and SQL Server core, extending into React and Node (TypeScript) with Postgres on newer products.
• Work across the team's codebase, including ASP.NET applications and newer services.
• Take initiative to resolve technical and product problems as they arise.
• Help maintain CI/CD pipelines, test frameworks, UAT and production environments, and production support rotation.
• Develop understanding of team goals and how your work advances them within compliance deadlines.
• Write clean code and review teammates' code to uphold quality.
• Collaborate with Product Owner to understand customer problems and inform the work.
• Contribute to estimation and planning with technical feedback to commit realistically.
