Job summary

ACCEL Schools, a Florida online public school network, seeks a Social Studies Content Coach to support grades 3–10 with standards-aligned curriculum, pacing guides, and instructional resources. You will monitor pacing, track standards mastery, and collaborate with teachers to adjust instruction.

The role requires deep knowledge of social studies standards, strong communication, and the ability to work across virtual platforms and data systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education preferred.
• Five or more years of experience in education with demonstrated experience or expertise in social studies.
• Strong knowledge of social studies standards, curriculum, pacing, and assessment across grades 3–10.
• Strong understanding of content progression and vertical alignment in history, civics, geography, economics, and social studies literacy.
• Experience developing, implementing, or monitoring curriculum maps and pacing guides.
• Experience analyzing standards-level student achievement data and identifying instructional priorities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers to identify content gaps and develop actionable plans for addressing them.
• Comfortable using curriculum platforms, student data systems, spreadsheets, and virtual learning platforms.
• Committed to standards mastery, continuous improvement, and student academic achievement.

Responsibilities

• Support social studies teachers in implementation of standards-aligned curriculum, pacing guides, and instructional resources.
• Monitor pacing throughout the school year to ensure standards and content are taught within instructional timelines.
• Track which standards have been introduced, taught, assessed, mastered, and still require instruction or reinforcement.
• Assist teachers in unpacking social studies standards and understanding required content knowledge and rigor.
• Review curriculum maps, pacing guides, lesson plans, and resources for alignment with standards.
• Analyze student achievement and standards-mastery data to identify strengths and gaps.
• Collaborate with teachers to adjust instructional pacing and priorities based on performance.
• Help teachers identify prerequisite knowledge and skills to address learning gaps.
• Support vertical alignment across grades 3–10 and progression of social studies literacy.
• Assist teachers in balancing content coverage with review and deeper learning.
• Monitor student performance on assessments to evaluate progress toward mastery.
• Facilitate content-specific planning and data discussions focused on pacing and mastery.
• Identify and recommend curriculum resources and materials aligned to standards.
• Collaborate with Instructional Coaches, teachers, and leadership to connect social studies priorities with instruction.
• Maintain documentation related to pacing, mastery, and instructional needs.
• Remain current on state social studies standards and assessment requirements.
