Job summary

SCI Summit Consulting, LLC in the United States seeks an experienced underwriter to lead evaluation of new and renewal business for workers’ compensation. You will develop risk models, determine coverage and pricing, and guide decisions with actuaries and agents.

You will document decisions, ensure regulatory compliance, and coach staff where applicable while staying aligned with company guidelines and risk appetite. This remote role requires travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience: Generally, a minimum of 13 years of underwriting or related field.
• Professional designations such as AU, CPCU, CIC, INS or ARM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads the evaluation and underwriting of new and renewal business, ensuring alignment with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
• Develops and implements advanced risk assessment models for coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Fosters partnerships with actuaries, agents, brokers and clients to obtain information and guidance.
• Procures and analyzes motor vehicle history reports, loss history reports, and external inspections to support decisions.
• Ensures documentation of underwriting decisions and compliance with regulations.
• Evaluates complex policy renewals and modifications for enhancements and risk mitigation.
• Communicates underwriting strategies to internal teams, agents and brokers.
• Monitors industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
• Maintains relationships to generate new business and retain profitable business.
• Mentions possible staff coaching and talent decisions.
