Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA Inc. is seeking a Senior Transformer Engineer to join our Transformer Services US engineering team. You will work on transformer design, repair, testing, and field support, with opportunities across multiple US locations and remote work.

The role requires 5+ years of transformer experience, strong knowledge of standards, and the ability to travel up to 20% to support customer sites nationwide. You will mentor colleagues and contribute to life assessments and thermal studies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5+ years transformer experience.
• Experience repairing medium/large power oil-filled transformers from multiple OEMs.
• Knowledge of IEEE, IEC, NEMA standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert solutions to technical inquiries from operations and quotation team.
• Serve as SME for field repair and testing.
• Create and review test trip packs, validate test data, and compile reports.
• Offer 24/7 technical support to field crews across US time zones.
• Mentor and guide less experienced colleagues.
• Conduct life and condition assessments, thermal studies, and internal inspections.
• Participate in root cause analysis studies and create repair scope of work procedures.
• Prepare and present customer training sessions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations and guidelines.
