Job summary

Avalara, Inc. is seeking a Senior Implementation Consultant to lead complex enterprise implementations of Avalara Excise platforms. You will own technical architecture, tax determination strategy, and multi-jurisdiction delivery for energy distributors and terminal operators, with remote work options.

You’ll mentor consultants, drive standards, and collaborate with partners while guiding pre-sales and LOE estimations for large opportunities.

Qualifications

8+ years of progressive experience in enterprise software implementation, tax technology consulting, systems integration, or technical solution delivery.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in IS/CS/Accounting/Finance/Engineering.
In-depth subject matter expertise in excise/fuel and taxation, oil & gas supply chains, terminal operations, or indirect tax systems.
Advanced technical troubleshooting skills (API, SQL, data transformation).

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end technical delivery of complex enterprise implementations with multi-entity structures.
Architect custom calculation logic and mappings for high-volume datasets.
Lead architecture/design workshops with tax directors, IT leadership, and integrators.
Manage SIT/UAT strategy and resolve data/schema issues.
Provide escalation leadership for critical issues and mentor consultants.
