Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with a BS in Civil/Structural Engineering and 5+ years of design and review experience. The role focuses on electric substations, leading projects and mentoring junior staff.

Experience with steel and concrete structures, foundations, seismic design, and substation components is preferred. Some travel and client coordination are expected; remote work is possible with preference for CA/WA/OR residents.

Qualifications

BS in Civil/Structural Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience (MS with 3+ years acceptable)
PE License preferred in CA, WA, OR or ability to obtain in 3–12 months
Experience with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD is required
Experience with RISA 3D or/and STAAD.Pro, SAG10, FAD or/and LPile is required
Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation is required
Strong analytical and technical writing skills
Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff

Responsibilities

Lead projects and perform design reviews for substation structures and foundations
Develop junior staff and provide mentorship
Ensure designs comply with industry codes and seismic loading requirements
Coordinate with clients and travel to substation facilities as needed
Perform site visits and support bid/construction package development
