Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to lead the design of high‑voltage substations, mentor junior engineers, and drive technical excellence from concept through construction.

You will collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable power systems while adhering to codes, QA/QC, and project schedules. This role can be performed remotely within the United States with preferred hybrid options near Farmington, UT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 7–10 years of experience in Substation Protection & Control design engineering.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design substation protection and control systems per codes and client standards.
• Develop protective relaying and control system designs for transmission and distribution substations.
• Create relay protection schemes, settings criteria, and related engineering calculations.
• Prepare equipment specifications and cost estimates for procurement.
• Lead client meetings and site visits to collect data and present engineering solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure QA/QC compliance.
