Job summary

BKF Engineers is hiring a Senior Regulatory Specialist and Project Manager to support our environmental consulting practice across California. The role combines permitting and regulatory compliance with senior project management, client coordination, and business development.

The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of progressive leadership, a Bachelor’s in environmental science (Master’s preferred), and strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years in progressive leadership roles with oversight of professionals.
• Strong understanding of federal and state environmental regulations.
• Valid California driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead permitting projects and regulatory compliance initiatives across California.
• Manage project budgets and allocate tasks to ensure timely deliverables.
• Support business development and secure contracts with clients.
• Mentor and coordinate cross-disciplinary teams including biologists, engineers, and planners.
• Communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
