Job summary

Makai is seeking a proactive Senior QA Engineer to join our remote team as a hands-on leader driving quality across the product. This contract-to-hire role emphasizes reliability, performance, and user satisfaction while you collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA peers.

You will own end-to-end QA, perform functional and API testing, write SQL queries, and contribute to test automation with Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional QA experience.
• Experience testing complex web applications.
• Proficiency with SQL in relational databases.
• Experience with API testing (Postman) and backend data validation.
• Foundational test automation experience with Cypress/Playwright/Selenium.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).
• Strong communication and collaboration with Developers, Product Owners and QA Team.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Quality Ownership: manage the entire QA lifecycle from requirements to release readiness.
• In-Depth Functional & Regression Testing: perform thorough manual testing across functional areas.
• API & Backend Testing: conduct API testing and validate data integrity with SQL queries.
• Defect Management: identify, document, track and verify fixes with clarity.
• Process Advocacy & Improvement: promote QA best practices and improve testing tools and methods.
• Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: share best practices and uplift the team.
