Job summary

Makai is seeking a proactive Senior QA Engineer to join our growing QA practice in a contract-to-hire remote role. You will drive quality initiatives, ensure product reliability, performance, and user satisfaction across our automation platform and web applications.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in QA, strong test design and SDLC knowledge within Agile teams, and hands-on experience with Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium, plus SQL.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional QA experience in testing complex web applications.
• Expertise in modern QA methodologies and test design techniques.
• Experience with SDLC/STLC in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban).
• Proficiency in SQL for backend validation and data setup/teardown.
• Ability to read and understand code in JS/TS/Python to support testing and future automation.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and methodical testing approach.
• Fluent English (written and spoken) with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own QA lifecycle end-to-end from requirements analysis to release readiness.
• Perform manual functional, integration, regression, compatibility, and exploratory testing.
• Conduct API and backend testing; validate business logic with SQL queries.
• Document, track, and verify defects with clear lifecycle details.
• Advocate quality best practices and contribute to QA process improvements.
• Mentor teammates and share knowledge to elevate the QA function.
