Job summary

Makai is seeking a proactive Senior QA Engineer to join our growing team as a hands-on leader driving quality across the product. This contract-to-hire remote role requires ownership of the QA lifecycle and a focus on reliability, performance, and user satisfaction.

You will lead end-to-end testing, perform API and backend validation, and contribute to test automation using Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium. Strong collaboration with Developers, Product Owners and QA teammates is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional QA Experience, with a proven track record in testing complex web applications.
• Expertise in Modern QA methodologies and SDLC/STLC within Agile frameworks.
• Proficiency in SQL for backend validation and data setup/teardown.
• Foundational test automation with Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium.
• Ability to read code in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python to support testing.
• Fluent English, strong communication and collaboration.
• Experience working with Developers, Product Owners and QA teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the full QA lifecycle from requirements analysis to release readiness.
• Perform manual functional, integration, and regression testing.
• Conduct API and backend testing; verify data integrity with SQL.
• Document defects clearly and coordinate fixes with the dev team.
• Advise on QA processes and promote quality improvements.
• Mentor teammates and share testing best practices.
