Job summary

Makai is looking for a proactive Senior QA Engineer to join our growing QA team in a hands-on leadership role. This contract-to-hire remote position focuses on driving quality initiatives, ensuring product reliability and user satisfaction.

You will design test strategies, perform comprehensive manual and automated testing, and collaborate with Developers, Product Owners and QA to improve coverage and release readiness.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional QA Experience in testing complex web apps.
• Expertise in modern QA methodologies and SDLC/STLC in Agile environments.
• Proficiency with complex SQL queries to validate backend behavior.
• Foundational test automation experience with Cypress, Playwright or Selenium.
• Ability to read and understand code in JavaScript, TypeScript or Python.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Fluent English (written and spoken) with strong collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Quality Ownership: manage QA lifecycle from requirements to release readiness.
• In-Depth Functional & Regression Testing across systems and modules.
• API & Backend Testing with Postman and SQL to ensure data integrity.
• Defect Management: document, track, and verify fixes with developers.
• Process Advocacy & Improvement: promote QA best practices and tooling.
• Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing within the QA team.
