Job summary

ICF is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead a growing team focused on advanced power systems modeling and analytics for electric utilities. This fully remote US role emphasizes leadership, client engagement, and delivering high-quality engineering services.

You will mentor engineers, manage scopes, budgets, and timelines, and develop automation scripts in Python/SQL/VBA to improve efficiency and accuracy. A strong communicator and proactive leader is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering theories and principles (transmission/distribution modeling, short circuit and power flow analysis, arc flash calculations, voltage imbalance, thermal ratings).
  • 5+ years of experience working at an electric utility (IOU, municipal, or rural coop).

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small, skilled team in power systems modeling and analytics for utility clients.
  • Mentor engineers in power engineering theories and principles.
  • Develop scopes of work, project timelines, and budget estimates; participate in client meetings.
  • Interact with prospective clients to demonstrate ICF’s expertise and attract new business.
  • Create/maintain transmission and distribution models using CAPE/PSSE/CYME/Synergi/WindMil/PSCAD.
  • Develop automation scripts (Python/SQL/VBA) to improve efficiency and accuracy.
