Job summary

Talent Groups seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join its Platform Engineering team remotely on a W-2 contract for 6 months, with potential extension. The role focuses on building shared software, services, and developer tools that boost productivity across engineering teams.

You will investigate, design, and implement improvements to tools, libraries, and workflows, collaborating with peers and architects to deliver reliable, scalable systems. Strong backend/API experience is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience developing and troubleshooting backend services and APIs.
• Demonstrated ability to independently take a broad engineering problem from investigation to rollout.
• Ability to clarify requirements, evaluate technical approaches, and communicate trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve shared engineering tools, services, APIs, and development workflows.
• Investigate existing implementations, gather input from engineering teams, and define practical solutions to broad technical problems.
• Evaluate technical options and trade-offs, develop solution designs, and present recommendations to engineering peers and architects.
• Write technical design documentation and break initiatives into actionable development tasks and Jira tickets.
• Improve shared libraries, testing frameworks, security practices, performance, and deployment workflows.
• Coordinate implementation efforts with other engineers, incorporate feedback, and drive solutions through testing and rollout.
• Support adoption of new tools and technical changes across engineering teams.
• Communicate project progress, risks, technical decisions, and expected outcomes to stakeholders.
