Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to apply approved technologies and architectures for growth and new services nationwide. You will ensure a best-in-class customer experience across multiple units while owning a defined territory and delivering high‑impact results.

The role emphasizes market strategy, capital budgeting, and cross-functional collaboration with Transport, Field Ops, and Engineering teams. This is a work‑from‑home position within the U.S.

Qualifications

• 6+ years consulting/planning experience in telecom.
• 4+ years inside and outside plant experience in telecommunications with in-depth knowledge of ISP/OSP equipment or equivalent training.
• Demonstrated ability to focus on objectives in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Proven leadership capabilities including setting vision and accountability.
• Strong data/economic analysis skills.
• Experience using geospatial tools like ArcGIS/PRO, AutoCAD and Google Earth.

Responsibilities

• Develops/defines plans for implementing new OSP/ISP plant construction or modifications to existing facilities.
• Oversees network capacity trends and recommends actions to optimize cost and performance.
• Defines and implements market-level strategy for 3–5 year technology transformation.
• Supports cross-functional teams across Transport, Core Wave, Field Ops & Implementation, and others.
• Prepares plans and specs with field data and budgets cost data for capital planning.
• Monitors and controls project expenditures.
• Oversees installation/construction and testing of plant facilities.
• Keeps up-to-date with industry developments and trends.
