Job summary
Placements24 seeks a Senior Petroleum Geologist to join a fully remote team, supporting Welkom-region projects. You will interpret subsurface data, identify prospects, and contribute to exploration strategy from your home office.
Requires a Master's or Ph.D. in Geology and 8+ years of exploration experience, with Petrel/Kingdom Suite, seismic interpretation, and well log analysis. Excellent remote communication is essential.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology or related geoscience discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience as a petroleum geologist.
- Proficiency in geological modeling and interpretation software (Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
- Experience with seismic interpretation and well log analysis.
- Excellent remote collaboration and communication skills.
- Proven track record of contributing to successful exploration discoveries.
Responsibilities
- Analyze seismic, well logs, and core data to understand subsurface structures.
- Identify and evaluate hydrocarbon prospects and trap mechanisms.
- Develop geological models and maps including structural and stratigraphic interpretations.
- Collaborate remotely with reservoir engineers, geophysicists, and management.
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations for acreage and drilling targets.
- Stay updated on new geological concepts and technologies.
