Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geologist to bolster its exploration team in Welkom. You will analyze geological data, interpret seismic surveys, and recommend exploration targets for oil and gas projects, contributing to growth strategies.

The role requires 8+ years in exploration geology, proficiency with Petrel/Kingdom Suite, and strong communication and teamwork skills. Expect opportunities for field work and international assignments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in exploration geology, specifically within the oil and gas sector.
Proficiency in geological software packages (Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
Experience with seismic interpretation and prospect evaluation.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Interpret geological and geophysical data, including seismic, well logs, and core samples.
Identify and map potential hydrocarbon traps and prospects.
Develop geological models for exploration and appraisal projects.
Collaborate closely with reservoir and drilling engineers to integrate geological insights into development plans.
Prepare detailed geological reports, presentations, and recommendations for exploration acreage.
Contribute to the company's exploration strategy and risk assessment processes.
