Job summary

Placements24 in Welkom seeks a seasoned Senior Geologist to join our client's exploration team and advance hydrocarbon prospect generation through geological interpretation and data synthesis.

The candidate will build robust geological models, assess resource potential, and communicate findings to internal stakeholders. Strong basin analysis, seismic interpretation, and field- or desk-based collaboration are essential in this hybrid role.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in Geology or related Earth Sciences.
• Minimum 7 years of oil and gas exploration geology experience.
• Proficiency with Petrel and Kingdom Suite; solid seismic interpretation and basin analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geological and geophysical data analysis, including seismic interpretation and mapping.
• Develop and refine 3D geological models to define hydrocarbon traps and estimate resource volumes.
• Integrate core data, well logs, and production data to understand reservoir characteristics and heterogeneity.
• Prepare comprehensive geological reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and potential partners.
• Identify and evaluate new exploration opportunities, defining geological risks and uncertainties.
