Maximus is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer to lead performance testing across large-scale healthcare technology programs. This remote role will define strategies, develop frameworks, create workload models, and validate scalability, reliability, and capacity while partnering with multiple teams to identify bottlenecks and drive improvements.

Qualifications

• - Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and 5+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• - 5+ years of performance testing and engineering for large-scale web, mobile, and digital applications, APIs, and microservices, including 2+ years in a technical lead role.
• - Strong experience with performance testing across REST, GraphQL, SOAP, HTTP/S, WebSockets, and microservices architectures.
• - Proficiency deploying, executing, and managing JMeter in cloud-hosted containerized environments, such as Kubernetes on AWS.
• - Building workload models from production data and producing reports that quantify risk for release decisions.
• - Experience designing and managing large-scale test data for performance, scalability, and endurance testing.
• - Java performance tuning, memory management, and concurrency optimization.
• - Integrating performance tests into CI/CD pipelines and shift-left practices.
• - Knowledge of relational, NoSQL, and time-series databases and performance tuning.
• - Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Splunk, CloudWatch, Dynatrace, AppDynamics) for end-to-end tracing.
• - Understanding distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, Kubernetes, and modern web infrastructure.
• - Experience with load, stress, endurance, and capacity testing.
• - Agile experience and collaboration across Dev, Architecture, Product, and Infra teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead performance testing activities including planning, workload modeling, test design, scripting, execution, analysis, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
• Partner with stakeholders to define and validate non-functional requirements and performance targets.
• Design and execute load, stress, spike, endurance, scalability, and capacity tests.
• Develop workload models from production usage data and projected growth.
• Plan environments, data strategies, and distributed load generation.
• Analyze performance metrics across apps, databases, and cloud platforms to identify bottlenecks.
• Provide actionable recommendations to improve performance, scalability, reliability, and resource usage.
• Establish baselines and identify regressions across releases.
• Develop and maintain performance testing frameworks, automation utilities, CI/CD integrations, and cloud-native testing capabilities.
• Mentor engineers on performance engineering practices and AI-enabled testing tools.
• Present findings to technical and business stakeholders and drive remediation actions.
