Job summary

Intuit is seeking a senior payroll tax expert (SME) to lead end-to-end resolution of payroll tax notices, amendments, and corrections. The role serves as a technical lead, coaching teammates while handling the most complex cases in the queue and driving process improvements.

The position with SelectTime offers flexible hours, a minimum of 20 hours per week with potential to scale to 40 hours, and overtime eligibility as an hourly, non-exempt role.

Qualifications

• 4+ years focused on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns, and payroll corrections across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notice types; ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Hands-on experience preparing amended Federal (941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns with complex local requirements.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex payroll tax notices across multiple quarters and states from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended returns (Federal and State) and reconcile to original filings.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods and jurisdictions; drive correction workflows.
• Maintain high productivity resolving suppression of corrections and notices with accuracy.
• Coach and mentor junior staff, sharing resolution processes and best practices.
