Job summary

Optum Advisory Services seeks a Sr. Consultant to act as a trusted advisor on healthcare payer projects. You will design solutions, capture requirements, and deliver high-quality artifacts in a fast-paced environment.

Remote-friendly role with in-office requirements for some locations; travel up to 25% may be needed depending on project. You’ll guide AI-enabled workflows and participate in agile practices to drive payer transformations and value.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of healthcare payer operations and/or technology experience in at least one payer domain.
• 2+ years of external client-facing consulting experience.
• 2+ years documenting consulting deliverables (requirements, features, user stories, test cases, mappings).
• 2+ years creating process flow diagrams.
• 1+ years with core administration systems (e.g., Facets, QNXT, Health Rules Payer, Tapestry).
• 1+ years managing a workstream.
• 1+ years with PowerPoint and/or Visio.
• Willingness to travel domestically, up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Support projects for payer systems by creating designs, analyzing, gathering requirements, and delivering in a fast-paced environment.
• As an AI user, leverage enterprise tools to streamline workflows and drive improvement.
• Contribute to team problem solving across the full project scope.
• Lead or participate in team sessions with the delivery lead.
• Facilitate or participate in client discovery sessions to capture requirements.
• Establish credibility on relevant topics through deep knowledge.
• Use process design and testing tools (Jira, Rally, Visio, Miro) to support client work.
• Create deliverables translating business needs to technical requirements (features, user stories, mappings).
• Participate in PI planning, grooming, and sprint planning.
• Lead or participate in practice development projects.
• Proactively identify challenges and risks with mitigation recommendations.
• Produce high-quality deliverable documentation, alone or with the team.
• Facilitate deliverable review sessions with clients for input and approval.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with prospects, members, and team.
