Job summary

Optum, a UnitedHealth Group company, is seeking a Senior Ambulatory Medical Coder Edits to work remotely across the U.S. You will determine CPT and ICD-10 Edits for Professional Services, ensuring accuracy per coding policies and documentation, while providing feedback to physicians under supervision from Coding Operations leadership.

This full-time role requires 40 hours per week with flexible 8-hour shifts; telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-A).
• 2+ years of Professional/Ambulatory coding experience for all chart types including Same Day Surgery, Observation, ED, Ancillary services and Clinics.
• 1+ years of experience with LCD, NCD, Medical Necessity, Modifier Edits, OCE, MUE and NCCI classifications.
• 1+ years of experience with coding payer denials.
• Expert level of CPT and ICD-10-CM coding.
• Proficiency in Windows, MS Excel and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify CPT and ICD-10 Edits for Professional Services per official guidelines and client guidelines.
• Apply coding knowledge to analyze/correct CCI Edits and Medical Necessity accounts.
• Adhere to coding ethics per AAPC and/or AHIMA.
• Maintain required levels of coding quality and productivity per Optum360.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Stay up-to-date with coding knowledge from QM Manager, Coding Operations Managers and Director of Coding/Quality Management.
• Participate in coding department meetings and educational events.
• Handle additional responsibilities as identified by manager.
