Job summary

ChristianaCare is actively seeking a full-time Inpatient Coding Coordinator IV to oversee accurate inpatient coding for reimbursement and data collection. The role leads daily coding tasks, audits prebill records, and ensures compliance with industry guidelines, while collaborating with physicians to improve documentation.

Required RHIA/RHIT/CCS certification and at least three years in coding within HIM, with strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and system

Qualifications

• RHIA/RHIT/CCS certification or equivalent.
• College credits in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Three years coding experience in HIM department or equivalent.
• Experience with implementing and maintaining computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Timely prebill review and audit inpatient records to capture final DRG.
• Analyze clinical data and identify gaps in documentation.
• Analyze and report coding and documentation trends for improvements.
• Verify coding accuracy through quantitative and qualitative reviews.
• Communicate with physicians to validate diagnoses and documentation prompts.
• Follow CMS, AHIMA, AHA, AMA guidelines in coding.
• Create educational materials for clinicians and coders on documentation improvement.
• Train entry-level coders.
