Job summary

Beacon Hill Staffing Group is seeking a Senior Manager, Application Development to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale applications, APIs, and cloud-based solutions for a large enterprise. This role is hands-on (about 70% technical, 30% management) and requires setting direction, owning solution design and architecture, and driving projects to production.

You will lead a team of 5-7 engineers, collaborate with product and architecture stakeholders, and promote modern AWS-based cloud

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of technical leadership and/or engineering management.
• Strong hands-on architecture and solution design experience.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot background.
• Extensive experience with REST APIs, microservices, and enterprise integrations.
• Experience designing cloud solutions on AWS.
• Experience with event-driven and distributed architectures.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Ability to lead complex programs from architecture through execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise applications and modernization initiatives.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across Java, APIs, microservices, AWS, and AI-enabled solutions.
• Develop high-level and low-level solution designs and ensure successful implementation.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers; ~5-7 resources.
• Drive projects from design through production delivery.
• Partner with product, architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders.
• Lead cloud applications using modern AWS patterns.
• Promote microservices, event-driven architecture, reusable services, and API-first design.
• Oversee API and integration design, security, and governance.
• Support adoption of AI-assisted development tools and AI workflows.
• Champion Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and observability best practices.
