Job summary

Beacon Hill Staffing Group seeks a Senior Manager, Application Development to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale applications, APIs, and cloud solutions. This hands‑on leadership role blends technical direction with engineering management, guiding a team of engineers toward modern architecture patterns and AI-enabled workflows.

You will drive architecture, champion Agile/DevOps practices, and collaborate with product and business stakeholders to deliver scalable software across AWS

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering/application development experience.
• 5+ years of technical leadership and/or engineering management experience.
• Strong hands‑on architecture and solution design experience.
• Strong development background with Java and Spring Boot.
• Extensive experience with REST APIs, microservices, and enterprise integrations.
• Strong experience designing and implementing cloud solutions on AWS.
• Experience with event‑driven and distributed application architectures.
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Ability to lead complex technical programs from architecture/design through execution.
• Experience leading distributed engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery and modern software engineering practices.
• Exposure to AI-assisted software development, AI agents, or intelligent workflow automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise applications and modernization initiatives.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership across Java, APIs, microservices, AWS, and AI-enabled solutions.
• Develop high-level and low-level solution designs and ensure successful technical implementation.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers.
• Drive projects and larger technical initiatives from design through production delivery.
• Partner with product, architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders.
• Lead development of cloud applications using modern AWS architecture patterns.
• Drive adoption of microservices, event‑driven architecture, reusable services, and API-first design.
• Oversee enterprise API and integration design, development, security, and governance.
• Support adoption of AI-assisted development tools and AI-powered applications/workflows.
• Champion Agile, DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD, quality engineering, and observability best practices.
