Job summary

Norstella seeks a Senior Life Sciences Knowledge Engineer (Financial Focus) to lead the curation and fine-tuning of datasets for predictive analytics in life sciences. You will work with data scientists and ML engineers to shape model schemas, vocabularies, and behaviors across regulatory and clinical contexts.

You will design datasets, define tasks, and maintain guidelines while ensuring GxP and IP standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in life sciences, medical sciences, computer science or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with production-grade life science datasets and AI-enabled applications.
• Excellent problem-solving and independent work capability.
• Strong communication across technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, and agentic workflows.

Responsibilities

• Translate clinical and life sciences requirements into model-ready patterns with SME collaboration.
• Develop novel methods and parameters for model behavior based on requirements.
• Design and refine fine-tuning datasets with end-to-end task coverage and edge cases.
• Create and maintain annotation guidelines ensuring consistent schema and vocabulary.
• Define task taxonomy and output schema with data scientists for production needs.
• Train SME graders and translate feedback into model/tool improvements.
• Run dataset experiments to identify failures and iteratively improve coverage.
• Maintain provenance, licensing, and regulatory compliance for all datasets.
• Contribute to Norstella’s knowledge base and agentic workflow design.
