Job summary

Husch Blackwell LLP seeks a Senior IP Docket Specialist to manage docketing for patent, trademark, and copyright matters, ensuring deadlines are tracked and filings align with USPTO and foreign requirements. The role may be filled remotely or at any firm location, reflecting a flexible work approach.

You will train staff, oversee docket reports, review incoming documents, and coordinate with the Centralized IP Docket Team to uphold quality standards and firm guidelines.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IP docketing experience with specific proficiency using IP docketing software such as PattsyWave, Foundation IP, or CPi
• 2-year degree or Paralegal Certificate; 4-year degree preferred in related field
• Advanced knowledge of US and foreign patent and trademark prosecution procedures, including deadlines and workflow
• Maintenance Fee‑Annuity‑Renewal processes for patent and trademark modules
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and DMS systems; ability to manage large spreadsheets

Responsibilities

• Oversee and ensure accurate entry and date calculation for docket entries
• Train members of the Central Docketing team
• Review submissions to identify deadlines and docket accordingly
• Verify USPTO and foreign filings for accuracy
• Create, review, schedule, and distribute advanced docket reports for patent and trademark cases
• Open new matters and input records into IP Docketing system
• Enter all due dates from correspondence into the docketing system
• Maintain knowledge of USPTO, PCT, Madrid Protocol and Foreign IP rules
