Job summary

Caret is seeking a systems engineer to support and document IT infrastructure, including virtualization, Windows Server, and AD, with on‑call responsibilities. The role is nationwide remote, offering a hands‑on opportunity to design, deploy, and secure complex environments.

You will work with PowerShell and IaC tools (Ansible/Terraform), participate in SCRUM, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring system health with monitoring and backups.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in systems engineering or infrastructure management.
• Proficiency with Windows Server administration and security best practices.
• Hands-on virtualization with Hyper‑V and/or VMware.
• Experience with Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
• Experience with Ansible and Terraform for IaC.
• PowerShell scripting experience.

Responsibilities

• Support and document IT infrastructure systems, ensuring stability and performance.
• Understand and manage system architecture including servers, databases, APIs, load balancers, firewalls, networking, and SAN.
• Build, configure, and maintain virtualized environments using Hyper‑V and/or VMware.
• Administer Windows Server environments including patching and security hardening.
• Manage Active Directory (on‑prem and Azure AD) and user provisioning.
• Design and implement automation scripts using PowerShell and IaC tools like Ansible or Terraform.
• Oversee backup processes at VM, OS, and SAN levels.
• Monitor system health and performance, respond to incidents and triage effectively.
• Use code repositories for infrastructure configuration and deployment (GitHub, Azure DevOps).
• Contribute to SCRUM/Agile processes by delivering infra-related tasks and improvements.
• Lead projects from design to completion and mentor junior engineers.
